Hi, I’m Dr. Joonpyo Hong.
I’m a board-certified ear, nose, and throat doctor (otolaryngologist) in South Korea.
CuriousMD is where I explore the questions that keep coming up in my mind and in the clinic.
Why this curiousmd blog exists
We live in an age of information overload. Today, accessing information itself is easier than ever. The real challenge lies in identifying information that is objective, reliable, and of high quality.
This is particularly difficult in medicine, a highly specialized field that can often feel inaccessible to the general public. Inaccurate claims and subjective opinions are frequently presented as established facts and circulated widely online.
I created this blog because I believe this is a problem worth addressing. Here, I aim to share trustworthy, high-quality content in the areas I know best, drawing on professional expertise and the most objective, valid evidence available.
I hope these articles will help readers correct common misconceptions and better protect themselves from inaccurate or misleading medical information.
How I write
- Every claim ties back to peer-reviewed evidence, clinical experience, or clearly labeled opinion.
- I tell you what something can’t do as plainly as what it can.
- No fearmongering. No hype. Nothing for sale.
A note, please read
CuriousMD is a personal blog for general information. It does not replace a consultation with your own clinician. If you have symptoms
that worry you, please get examined in person — an article can inform you, but it can’t diagnose you.
